DescriptionFollowing the full digital switchover on December 2nd 2009:
When recording television programs from channels 55,58,59 both the program and recording jumps and stutters. Programs recorded from channels 61 and 62 seem to be OK

Additional InformationI have performed various combinations and permutations: First Time Installation, Automatic channel scan, Manual channel scan, Deletion of all channels, with and without the aerial attached - however the problem still persists:

I did have a new Wharfedale DTR160 HDMI, which had not been installed i.e. brand new, and not out of the box. I installed the equipment and performed a First Time Installation with Automatic channel scan, although I picked up two Welsh channels, the equipment worked perfectly. The only problem I had was trying to record a program on Channel 4 via the EPG, The program was not underlined in red, nor was it contained the Timer. After performing a Manual channel scan (55, 58, 59,61,62). The program was underlined in red and was contained in the Timer. Channel 4 was used an example as the same problem existed with the all programs where there was a Welsh equivalent, Welsh channels are 45 and 49.
I do not claim to be a technical expert, however the “problem” does not appear to be related to signal strength. As basically a “new” box works perfectly there would appear to be a problem with the re-configuration of the equipment via the software.

My user manual quotes:
 
5.4.2 FIRST TIME INSTALLATION

“Use this option to load the default settings which have been set at the factory. To install factory settings highlight ‘First Time Installation; menu and press OK key, then you will be asked to confirm deleting all channels and settings. Selecting YES and pressing OK will delete the channel table”

If this is true, then I should have had the equipment in the same state as the brand new one.

I therefore believe that this part of the software is not clearing the channel table prior to rescanning which is causes the contention. Prior to the switchover Channel 4 was found on channel 66, it is now channel 59. Trying a manual scan of channel 66 on previously installed equipment, just hangs, necessitating the equipment to powered-off at the plug.

Therefore, I would suggest Vestel review their software regarding First Time Installation, particularly with reference to the deleting of all entries in the channel table.

The V13.0 software fix will be broadcast from 10am on Friday and this problem should then be fixed.
