Summary0375: Series Recording failures
DescriptionI have a Luxor pvr320-690 (0031-541-cf-jv)purchased from ebuyer in 2011.
The unit is running firmware v3.5 (12-8-10) and the menu display has a blue background.
The PVR has performed satisfactorily until recently when I have noticed that despite recording the first two of a series of programmes the third programme of the series fails, recording a few seconds and then stopping. This has occurred on freeview channel 10 (ITV3) and the programme series is Downton Abbey.
This seems to be a problem that has occurred recently and I wonder if any one has a suggestion as to how to overcome it?
Thanks in hope!

If it only happens on ITV3, it would suggest the broadcaster made a mistake. It is not unusual for them to sometimes change the unique series identifier mid-series, when in fact it should never change. This will cause any Freeview+ box to fail to record. The solution in this case is to delete your series timer from the timer list and set it up again via the EPG.

If it happens on other channels too, then the best thing to do is to perform a first time installation as the internal timers system may have gotten corrupted. This will erase all timers and settings, but it will leave your recording library untouched.

Many thanks for your prompt reply. I will try a first time installation and see if this cures the problem but I don't understand why it would start to record and then stop after a few seconds e.g. 21 secs?
I will monitor and advise whether your remedy suggestion works.
Thanks again..

Sorry, I missed that important detail. Clearly the EPG data was fine otherwise it never would have started recording. It could be that the broadcaster's accurate recording signalling is not being set correctly, which can happen from time to time. However, I would still suggest a first time installation and keeping low power mode enabled. Also, it is always a good idea to delete all unwanted channels from the channel list as it will generally improve reliability and responsiveness.

I'll have done as you suggest, will monitor over the next few days and post an update as things develop!

Thanks for your assistance.
